What You Need to Know

The aim of this project is to increase the understanding of the steps, which can be taken to decolonise education in a way that will have a beneficial impact on the quality of teaching through the creation of a more inclusive and representative education system. The outputs produced will provide guidance to educators in South Africa, and the Global South and North more broadly, of ways in which they can begin to decolonise their curricula and language policies.

This project involves Dr Collin Reilly, Adeyemi Awomodu, Dr Tracey Costley, Yoana Dancheva, and Dr Hannah Gibson (Department of Language and Linguistics, University of Essex), Samira Diebire (Department of Government, University of Essex), and Professor Rajendra Chetty (University of the Western Cape, South Africa).

Previous webinars in the series include ‘Decolonising the curriculum: the work,’ ‘Decolonising research,’ and 'Decolonising university.'

The project is funded by the Global Challenge Research Fund.
