On Wednesday, November 25, 2020, we had our first webinar of the series “Decolonising the Curriculum: The Work.” We were joined by
Dr Sarah Shair-Rosenfield, a lecturer in international relations from the University of Essex,
Odwa Mntonintshi from the University of the Western Cape,
Sophie Kabangu, a student from the University of Essex.
The discussion focused on the need for reformation of the education system. The guest speakers answered the questions:
What does decolonising the curriculum mean to you?
Do you think the decolonisation of the curriculum is practically possible in your field?
How would decolonising the curriculum look like to students?
What steps do you think need to be taken in order to effectively decolonise the curriculum?
In order to hear the answers to those questions and more, you can watch the recording of the webinar here.
Our next webinar will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, on Zoom. Check our website next week for more details.
